Financial Literate Entrepreneur: Simple Financial Report Analysis Training for Students, Alumni, and MSMEs at Peukan Student (KANSIS)

This community service article reports a service-learning based mentoring program on simple financial statement analysis for micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) participating in Peukan Student (KANSIS) at Universitas Syiah Kuala. The program aimed to strengthen MSME strategic decision-making by improving knowledge, skills, and confidence in preparing and interpreting basic cash-flow statements and income statements. Using a one-day intervention on 8 November 2025 with 40 MSME owners, data were collected through pre- and post-tests, worksheets, observation, and reflection notes. Results show substantial gains in financial literacy, analytic ability, and self-confidence, with MSMEs beginning to use financial information for pricing, product selection, and reinvestment decisions. The model demonstrates how campus-based service learning can support MSME resilience and SDGs.
